The Cuckmere Estuary Flood Risk Management Strategy
The Environment Agency has prepared a draft flood risk management strategy for the Cuckmere estuary (the area between the A259 at Exceat Bridge and the sea). The strategy focuses on future flood risk management in the estuary while taking into account the potential wider effects upstream in the Cuckmere river catchment. It puts forward a recommended option for how best to manage flood risk within the estuary for the next 100 years.
The Environment Agency has just finished a three month public consultation on the draft flood risk management strategy for the Cuckmere estuary. They have worked hard to engage with anyone that has an interest in the area and are now reviewing the draft strategy, together with the responses received. They will publicise the final strategy decision and how comments received during consultation have been taken into account in spring 2008.
